Bristow Public Schools would like to express our gratitude for your support and understanding during last Friday's incident within our community which resulted in our school sites going on lockdown. We would also like to thank the Bristow Police Department, Creek County Sheriff’s Office, and Oklahoma Highway Patrol for their timely response.
We want to assure you that your child's safety is ALWAYS our top priority. In the event of a lockdown or lockout we will ensure their safety before communicating with anyone outside of the school.
The following protocols are in place for a lockdown/lockout event. Please familiarize yourself with these protocols to ensure best practices, effective communication, and student safety.
All communication during a lockdown/lockout event will be disseminated through our school communication system and NOT through social media. This system sends out text messages and/or voice messages directly to the parent/guardian and student phones. If you are not receiving messages, please contact your child’s school site to confirm accurate contact information is in our student information system. If you have previously “opted out” of this mode of communication you can restart by texting “start” to 98900.
During a lockdown/lockout event, student safety is our number one priority. Students will be secured before any communication is sent.
During a lockdown/lockout, no student entry or release will be permitted. Please avoid coming to the school as this impedes law enforcement efforts to secure all sites.
Once the students are secure, we will provide updates through our district call out system as soon as we have details
. We will continue timely updates throughout the event as we learn new information.
When the lockdown/lockout event is lifted, students will return to normal procedures and activities. A final communication will be sent out at that time.
There is nothing more important to Bristow Public Schools than the safety, health, and wellbeing of our students. It is never easy to share concerning news; however, we want you to know we will always communicate as openly as possible about school-related issues. When we work together, we can ensure we provide the best and safest educational experience for all students. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the administration office or your child’s school site.
