From the Principal's Pen

Monday, July 31st

Welcome Back BMS Students and Parents,

We are busy preparing for the 2017-18 school year and excited to have each of you back in the building.  It has been great seeing so many of you in the library this summer continuing to read and take care of your pre-ap requirements.  I hope that everyone had an opportunity to spend some quality time with family and are prepared to get back to work on Friday, August 11th.

Our secretaries are in the office and ready to enroll new students to our district.  A reminder that any student entering the 7th grade will have to have a TDAP immunization documented on their shot records prior to being able to enroll.

We will have Meet the Teacher Night on Tuesday, August 8th from 4-6 for 7th and 8th grade students.  Students may pick up their schedules that evening or will need to pick them up on the 1st day of school if they are unable to attend.  BMS will host our 6th Grade Transition Camp on Wednesday, August 9th from 2-5 pm for students here in the building, dinner for students and parents from 5-6 in the cafeteria, and students and parents may tour the building from 6-7.  School begins for all students on Friday, August 11th @ 8 am promptly.

With the transition to the 4-day school week last year, ensuring students are at school and on time will be more important than ever.  The 1st bell rings at 7:55 am and 1st Hour begins at 8.  We encourage parents to ensure that your child is having breakfast either at home or here at school as lunch is not served until 12:25pm daily.  Breakfast is served in our cafeteria beginning at 7:30 each morning. You can find the entire new bell schedule on on my tab at

BMS offers many opportunities to get involved in various electives and activities and we hope that students take advantage of these such as: academic team, choir, band, spanish, STEM, computers, FACS, athletics, speech, ag, PE.  If you are interested in any of these classes, please contact Mrs. Kacee Poteet, MS counselor.

We would like to welcome a few new staff members here at Bristow Middle School.  Mrs. Kacee Poteet will be our new MS counselor after serving the last 3 years at the HS.  Mrs. Ashley Powell will be teaching 7th grade Geography after teaching previously at Collinsville Public Schools.  Ms. Regan Jurgensen will be teaching our 6th-8th grade Reading and English classes after teaching the previous 3 years at Perkins Public Schools.  Ms. Caitlin Snider is a recent graduate of Oklahoma State University and will be teaching our 6th grade Science students.  Ms. Brittani Robinson comes to us from Haskell Public Schools where she was recognized as the Teacher of the Year for their district and will be teaching 6th grade Math and serve as our HS Softball Coach.  We are excited to have these outstanding individuals and educators join our team at BMS.

We encourage parents to stay in contact with us by signing up for the BMS remind by texting @bristow16 to 81010.  You will receive weekly texts about upcoming events and things going on in and around Bristow Middle School.  You can also access your child's grades  anytime through STI.  Directions for logging on can be found on the district website at  You can also contact us here at the MS for assistance with username or password.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
